Coaches & team manager roles

Our Club continues to expand, and we understand that supporting our coaches is critical to the success of our teams.

To assist, we have appointed a Coaches Coordinator whose role is to:   

• Be the first point of contact for coaches who have feedback or issues that need escalation
• Gather and make accessible game day tips and training drills, including those utilised by current coaches to all coaches, particularly those who are new
• Contribute to each team compilation.

•  All coaches need to have a WWCC. These are easy to obtain. Please apply online and then send a photo of your WWCC to upperbeacsplash@gmail.com.
• Coaches  and Team Managers must register their role within PlayHQ.
• The first 4 weeks of the season are usually grading games. All coaches, please let the Coaches Coordinator know at the end of each game how the team is going so that we can make sure the teams are graded correctly.

• The Australian Sport Learning Centre have a Community Coaching General Principles (CCGP) accreditation course which is available for free to Australian coaches. More information is available: https://www.sportaus.gov.au/coaches_and_officials/coaches
• When returning to sport after an extended break, remember that children may not be as fit as they used to be and be careful to avoid injuries. Most importantly, make sure kids are keeping active and having fun.  
• Asking each player at the end of the game to share some positive comments about someone else is a great way to give positive feedback and boost team morale.

• Team Managers must register their role within PlayHQ.
• Support the Coaches and sit on the bench with them
• Heja is our main method of communication with our teams.
  Team Managers will be assigned as Administrator and will need to schedule events for training and games (check play HQ for game schedule).
• If you are no longer going to be the Team Manager, please make sure you hand back the Administrator rights by assigning them to President. 
• Check that numbers on uniforms are the same as listed on the team sheet. 
• Club has clash uniforms to borrow when necessary. Please ensure you distribute these and then collect them at the end of the game.
• Help with drinks, timing with changes on the court, organising the players etc. A useful app to help manage substitutions on court is “SubTime”.
• Set-up Scoring Rosters so that there is someone to score each week. Scoring is not the Team Manager’s responsibility.
• PlayHQ registration need to be done by all players before our first game.
• If there are any injuries on court during a game, only the Coaches and Team Managers are allowed on the court once the referee indicates it is safe to do so. No parents are allowed.
• You need to see the Sports Captain at the stadium for insurance reasons. Please go to the front desk at the stadium, report the injury and completed the required paperwork.
• Behavior fouls will be given to anyone who is disrespectful to the referee. If parents are disrespectful, the foul will be given to the Coach. 3 tech fouls = 1 match suspension.
